Assembly theme: Compassion

Our current assembly theme is Compassion. On Monday, Mr Farrington told a story about Prince Siddartha who became known as the Lord Buddha and his compassion for all living things. He saved a beautiful swan that had been shot with a bow and arrow.

First week of school orchestra!

Just a reminder that orchestra begins this Thursday 28th February!

Those instrumentalists I need this week are Violinists and pianists. If your child was selected by their music teacher they would have received a letter from me inviting them to attend. Children need to come to the school hall for 3.30pm, bring a snack and drink, and then we’ll rehearse. Finish time is 4.15pm; please come around the back of the hall for pick-ups. I’m looking forward to it!

 Thank you, Mrs Mewett.

Clubs this term...

Clubs have begun really well this term; the children are attending lots of fun clubs either held in lunchtimes or after school.

Dance club is popular as ever, Choir is also very strong this term; Mrs Gallego was stunned by the amazing sound she heard last week!  The beginner Recorder club has also begun now, with some very keen and eager children who are already moving on well with their learning!

If your child has recorder lessons or Ukele lessons with Lucy then please ensure your payments per lesson (£1 per week) are handed into the school office asap.

If your child would like to join any of the above then please see me or the school office and we’ll put you in touch with the adult running the club, the more the merrier!

One World One Country Display and Performances

Thank you to those parents who were able to come along to see our display and to watch all the children perform this afternoon. I was very proud of them all. I shall be showing some videos and photos of the performances on the laptop in the foyer for those of you who could not make it this afternoon.

Indian farming workshops

Today Mr Farrington showed all the classes some photos and videos of his experience of visiting farms in Karnataka, South India. The children asked some great questions!

We look forward to parents coming into the hall tomorrow from 2.00pm onwards to see our displays, buy some international food freshly cooked by the children and perhaps watch some dancing, listen to some singing or drumming....who knows what will happen!

Today we welcomed Rev Vicky Thurtell from St Peter's in Dorchester who told us the story of Jesus feeding  the 5000.  Was it a miracle or an example of sharing with friends?

Focus on handwriting

I have been thrilled so far with the response from children to my Writing Challenge! I have really enjoyed reading stories, diaries and research done at home. I have also admired the handwriting practice from copying extracts from reading books, poems or simply copying out weekly spellings. As they say PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT so keep on writing!! I would also encourage parents to take a few moments to read the super co-operative writing on display in the corridor area!
