Buy a signed edition and meet the author tomorrow!!!!!!

Good evening everyone!

An exciting day tomorrow - as it is part of our reading week, we have arranged for a children's author/illustrator to come in and inspire the children about creating stories! He will be giving an exciting presentation/workshop to each class in the morning and then setting activities for them in the afternoon! The author and illustrator is, Mike Brownlow, author of Ten Little Pirates and creator of the TV series Little Robots.

More information about Ten Little Pirates

Ten little pirates set out to sea in search of adventure. But what will the ten little pirates do when they meet a hurricane . . . and a giant squid . . . and a HUNGRY SHARK? This fun-filled rhyming story, which incorporates counting backwards from ten to one, is great to share with young children who are learning about numbers. The colourful, humorous illustrations feature objects to spot and count on every page. With a bouncy, rhythmic text and lots of great sound words, this piratical adventure is perfect for sharing again and again. Short-listed for the Nottingham Children’s Book Awards and the Sheffield Children’s Book Awards, 2014.

Other books that will be on sale:
Make It! Rocket,
Make It! Robot, both published by Scholastic
Bad Manners! Benjie,
Dog Did It! both published by Piccadilly Press.

Mike will be selling copies of his books at the end of the day which you can buy and get signed as a special gift for your child. They will cost £6.99, and it would be appreciated if you could bring the correct money. The children will have a great day experiencing first hand how to create a book, and it would be a lovely, inspiring momento to take away! Check out his website!
We hope to see you at the end of the day tomorrow!

Annual questionnaires

We will soon be sending out our annual questionnaires for parents and children. These should be with you immediately after the Easter break. Please complete them and send in your comments about what you like about the school and also your suggestions for improvement. This is a genuine way for your views and concerns to be registered: we do listen and take account of parents' opinions and you can influence what we do. These questionnaires come straight to Mr Farrington who responds to every comment: so much more direct than using Facebook or other social media!

Bikeathon

Congratulations! Our school came second in the whole of Dorset in the numbers of children cycling or scootering to school! As a prize we are being awarded some balance bikes!
We have been successful in securing a grant and in the Easter Holidays some new bike and scooter racks will be installed which will be rainproof.

Library!

Hi All You Amazing Readers!

Firstly - Thank you to all those of you who kindly gave up the time to fill out the library questionnaire - this has been very useful!

So, as I am sure you are all aware, the launch of the New Library is imminent - due to open on the first day back after the Easter Holidays, however, in order for this change over to happen, we are having to do a lot of sorting and reducing of books over the next couple of weeks, this means the shelves are looking rather sparse! And, ofcourse, it is still essential that the children keep reading, so please continue to take what is there, supplement these with books from home or, indeed, the local library. We will be asking for all books to be returned to school during the last 2 weeks of this term!

Thank you for your support and patience during this transition period, BUT IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!
