Easter Egg Fun!

The children thoroughly enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt on the last afternoon of term, searching for eggs all over the school grounds, with Year 4 helping their buddies in Reception and Year 3 helping Year 1.
Meanwhile, Year 2 were the lucky class who had the chance to find not only their eggs but the ones everyone couldn't find. Children with chocolate or dairy allergies were given a cuddly alternative.

Polytunnel repaired and ready for action!!!!

With John Butcher as foreman and the willing labour of parents, children and a grandad, the new
polytunnel was successfully put in place after school on Friday.
Many thanks to the families Wood, Hoskin, Ray, Mistry-Dyer and Norris for your invaluable help!

We also managed to plant about 20 trees near to our play area to create yet another copse for wildlife and for future children to play in! Thanks to the Woodland Trust and Tim Norris for the trees!

Help with the polytunnel repair

Any help on Friday immediately after school to repair our polytunnel will be much appreciated! Bring a spade! Children can play on the equipment and be watched over the fence!
If we have lots of helpers, we can complete our wattle hazel fence by the carpark to keep out any invaders!

Questionnaires

Thanks to those of you who have returned the parental questionnaires! If you haven't done it yet, please send it in before the end of April. We are still getting a steady trickle of new contributions to Ofsted's Parent View. Have you done this yet?

At a loose end over the Easter holidays?

Why not give your child a daily handwriting challenge? Perhaps copy out a short poem or their spellings and see if they can improve their handwriting each day? Bring in their first and last efforts in the first week back and Mr Farrington will award a book prize to the most improved handwriting in each class!

Some sporting news!

A team of Year 3 and 4 children entered a football tournament and reached the semi final! Well done!
A team of Year 4 children entered a Biathle event (that is running 400 metres, swimming 40 metres and then running a further 400 metres without a break! Our teams came 2nd and 5th!! A fantastic effort from all!

Wisdom

Our current assembly theme is Wisdom. Mr Farrington told the story about the Wisdom of Solomon and we discussed how we expect people in charge to make good and wise decisions.

Comic Relief- The grand total

Thank you to everyone that got involved in Comic Relief. The children all looked very 'funny'. We shared some great jokes in assembly and sold out of the delicious cakes!

The Prince of Wales school raised an impressive £283.03 for Comic Relief, this money will be doubled by the government and given to those in need.

Eco Schools

In our “Eco Assembly” this week, the children were made aware of some
of our school’s plans in our bid to become a Gold Level “Eco School”.

We talked about the school’s energy bill and how we can try to cut down
on our expenditure by making sure we turn off lights and other
electrical appliances when they are not in use. We have some “light
monitors” that will be patrolling the school. It was suggested by the
children that the “Eco Team” make up some posters saying “Naughty,
Naughty, You Got Caughty!” They will be leaving these in the offending
classrooms!
We talked about our successful “Jumble Sale”, where we
raised over £200 for the school library.
Our participation in the Big
Pedal is going well. We did particularly well on Friday when we ran the
“Bike It Breakfast”. We currently are in second place locally, - behind
Damers School (who pipped us at the post last year).
