DASP citizenship awards!

I would like to say a huge WELL DONE to Kurtis, George, Rosa, Isabelle and Finley who attended the very prestigious DASP citizenship of the year awards ceremony at THS on Tuesday evening!

The theatre was packed, the Mayor was there and the children had to parade onto the stage infront of 100s of people to collect their awards - Mrs. Thorpe and I were very proud of you all and felt very privileged to be a part of your special evening - well done!!!!!

Also, well done to Year 4 who wrote a special song and created a film for the occasion - it was very impressive and Mrs Thorpe and I felt very proud of our school!!!!!!!

Our link school visit yesterday

It was fantastic to host our link schools Belle Vue Infant and Newport Junior School from Aldershot yesterday. The children introduced themselves in an assembly and explained what Aldershot was like.

Mr MacBean taught the children some country dances and we played a team game called 'cross the swamp'.  After a picnic lunch we then taught the children some other games from around the world.

All of the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and made some new friends.

The Children's Voice meet Oliver Letwin

On Monday Mrs Thorpe and the Children's Voice went to Puddletown Middle School to meet our local MP Oliver Letwin. It was an important meeting where we shared with Mr Letwin our concerns about children in the world who cannot go to school. We handed over our 'Send my friend to school' rucksacks that everyone in the school had made with the messages to world leaders on.

Coco read a speech on behalf of the Prince of Wales School about the importance of schooling and Jay asked Mr Letwin a question.

You may be aware that the children during the week are going to be focussing on the upcoming Olympics as well as finding out and learning all about Rio, Brazil? We will also use the week to be creative through art, dance and music, culminating in a carnival on Friday afternoon in the grounds, fingers crossed! Do join us if you can from 2pm.
