We have received slight changes to the day on Thursday for the Royal visit. All children and parents from The Prince of Wales School now need to meet at the security tent which will be located at the top of Peverell Avenue East. Please be there for 10 -10.15am latest.  Mr Scott (Lexi’s dad) is going to be a representative for the school so please make yourself familiar to him when you arrive.

Mr Scott has kindly suggested that anyone wishing to park may do so at his business. This is Deane Computer Solutions, unit 6A middle Farm Way, Dorchester. DT1 3AR.

Many thanks to Mr Scott for helping with this organisation.

Harvest celebrations 7th October

Thank you to everyone who took part in The Prince of Wales Harvest celebrations yesterday.
The children did a great job in presenting their songs, poems and art work to parents. Also the children have been busily cooking this week using our produce from the orchard, the goodies were sold in the café during the afternoon and they all went down a storm!

The harvest art work will be up next week so do please pop by the school hall to look at your child’s work if you were unable to come along.

The local food bank received two boxes of food from the school and it is looking like a good amount of money has been raised for the Kingfisher ward, who has asked the school to purchase some electrical equipment for children’s bedrooms.
We will keep you updated.

A reminder that the Harvest celebrations at The Prince of Wales School are this Friday the 7th October.

9.15am for Reception, Year 1 and 2 in the school hall. 9.50am for Years 3 and 4.

The produce that everyone donates will be sold to you all at the end of the Harvest celebrations. Money will go towards the Kingfisher ward and to support people of Syria via UNICEF. Any leftover produce will be taken to the Food bank in Dorchester.

Café – classes have been making goodies for the café. We do also really appreciate any donations of cakes, etc for the café from you too, as we always seem to require large numbers!

At 2.30pm the Harvest café will be open in the school hall. You may take your child from class to go to the café and enjoy the produce they have been baking!  POWSA will be serving tea and coffee as well.

We hope to see many of you there!

All Years - Inspirational Indian Harvest - 5th October 2016

As part of our Harvest week we were delighted to welcome Imo and Kiran, who came to school yesterday to run workshops with the children about Indian Harvest.  Each class took part in two workshops and two assemblies where the children learned all sorts of fascinating facts about how people in India celebrate bringing in their harvest.  Did you know that in India they decorate the termite mounds at harvest time?  The children also got to dance, make rangoli patterns, make block patterns and learned how Indian children would start they day at school, how Indian farming differed from our own farming methods and how food would be blessed.  During the day we also created an amazing banner showing three different elements of Indian harvest - In the jungle, fields and town.  This will be displayed proudly in our hall for our harvest celebrations.  Come and have a closer look and see if you can spot all of the animals.
